Hi Fabulous people, here I will talk about hair types. What are hair types? These in my understanding are the kinds, sorts, groups or classes a particular hair belong to. We have different hair types and this can vary due to races or weather and a lot more factors contribute to this differences in hair types. If you’re new to deep hair care discussion, you will find this a bit confusing or let me use the word difficult. But don’t worry because after reading this post and watching the pictures and videos, you will come to a better understanding of what hair typing is and also specify what hair type you have, how to take care of it and also choose the perfect hair styles for your hair type. Ok lovely people let’s continue!.
We have 4 types of hair
- Hair Type 1a 1b,1c: This type of hair is simply straigh
- Hair Type 2a, 2b, 2c: This type of hair is categorized in a,b,c and it’s just wavy hair.
- Hair Type 3a, 3b, 3c: This hair type is also categorized and it’s curly hair or medium curly hair.
- Hair Type 4a,4b,4c: Thia hair type is categorized also and it is kinky hair, tightly curled hair or coily hair.
Tips: The numbers 1, 2, 3 and 4 in hair types are to know the amount of curls and waves in a hair and to give more definition of all hair types.The a, b and c also in hair typing are used to determine the actual thickness of hair strand.

Hair Type 1-Straight Hair
Straight hair is completely straight, very sleek and the most shiny because it has no curls pattern so light reflect easily. This type of hair can hardly be damaged but if it seem to be damaged then it will lose it sheen and be very dull. Those pictures up are types of straight hairs i.e Long straight hair, medium straight hair and short straight hair. Straight hair is also categorized in 1a, 1b and 1c.

Hair Type 2 – Wavy Hair
This type of hair is between straight hair and curly hair i.e wavy hair is between hair type 1 and type 3. It have a loose curl pattern and It’s categorised in type 3a, 3b and 3c. Wavy hair is always with the ‘S’ curl pattern which means it’s slightly curled and slightly straight. You will know your hair is wavy if it curves in its ‘S’ shape and lay flat against your scalp not standing away from your head. Wavy hair is a bit shiny.

Hair Type 3-Curly Hair
This hair type is curly as it name goes and it normally but not in all cases a ‘Z’ pattern curls. It is also categorized in a,b and c. Curly hair can be acquired in many ways but it can never be permanent, also curly hair can be made straight and this can only last for a while because the hair will still grow out to its normal state. Curly hair have different need during different season like during the winter it requires a lot more conditioning, shampooing e.t.c to prevent it from dryness which will definitely lead to breakage but unlike the winter the reverse is the case in summer which means it need less products and if a lot of products is used in curly hair during the summer might lead to frizzing, so take note!. Curly hair absorbs a lot of water especially type 3c and can break easily, 3c has the most tight curl of this hair type, 3a have a looser curl, 3b has a tighter curls than 3a. But this type of hair is very lovely because it keep a little shine but not like straight hair. Hair Type 4-Kinky hair, Tightly curled or Coily hair
This hair type has a zig-zag pattern of curls and in most cases ‘S’ curls pattern. And it’s mainly common among mulatto’s and afro’s. It’s also categorized in a,b and c. Hair type 4 is very fragile because of the tight curls and because of its fragility it can break easily. So this type of hair should be treated gently when combing or styling e.t.c. This hair types has no shine but it sheen can be produced using some nice products. This type of hair has fewer cuticle layers (cuticle layers help to prevent external damages) more than every other hair types and because of this, its less protected naturally which means combing, blow drying, straightening e.t.c can cause damage easily, so when you are caring for this hair type you have to take it very gently or softly.
